Wrangell

After our leisurely morning at Berg Bay we motored towards Wrangell. As we approached we spotted the local airport and paused briefly at the end to watch a 737 take off, lifting up from the runway and passing right over our heads.

Wrangell was a sleepy little town just waking up for its annual epic 4th of July celebration. The whole town seemed to be dressed in red, white and blue. Also, very popular is the local 4th of July Queen. Posters were in every store front and booths were set up downtown.

We arrived just in time for dinner and split up to explore. Alden, Dayne and I had burgers on the waterfront and flipped through pictures back on the boat, relishing our cell phones and data service.

Scott and Kim did a much better job assimilating. They started with Bingo at the American Legion and closed down the local bar early the next morning, meeting half the town in the process, including two previous Independence Day royalty.

The next day we were up and gathering supplies. We had a quick lunch before fueling and departing. Dayne caught a flight back to the states. See you next time!
