Blunden Harbor

Time to head out! We were soon on our way to Blunden Harbor via Wells Passage and Queen Charlotte Strait. We had some rough seas in the strait that splashed up over the bow. The wind was blowing and whipping up white caps but the sun was shining. We made a bee line for our destination passing a huge sea otter on the way. Coming into Blunden Harbor the waves instantly died away and we were glad to make it there safely. We'd no sooner shut down the engines when the skies opened up and started raining. We hunkered down in the boat for a few hours and waited it out. When the weather finally relented to a drizzle we set out in the dinghy, dropping crab pots and rowing to shore to explore the Indian ruins. There wasn't much to see. A First Nations sign was on the beach, along with shells and rusty metal pieces. We also found a commemorative plaque to brave Schooner, who apparently had sacrificed herself to a mountain lion. It took us a moment to realize she was a dog. The next morning we had our first crab. We released our second female but Alden cooked up a nice big male.
