Sullivan Harbor and Turnbull Harbor

We didn't leave Kwatsi until noon, working on little projects and enjoying the bay. Alden made grits and a tofu scramble for breakfast, mmmm. After packing up and heading out we came upon Lacy Falls. The water rushed down over the black rocks right into the ocean and we inched our bow in as close as we dared, snapping photos. I made lunch and we ate as we cruised. The sun finally came out in force and we soaked up the warm rays. It wasn't long until we reached Sullivan Harbor. The tiny town has a gas dock, an equally tiny store, a closed restaurant and several little houses, all floating on the water and connected by docks and floating walkways. We payed an inordinate amount for fuel. My jaw dropped when I heard the price. Six dollars and twenty-five cents a gallon! After coughing up a thousand dollars to fill our tanks, we moored and stretched our legs on the docks. Wireless access was an extra $10, we decided we were too poor. But we did find some things at the general store, two grapefruits, a spaghetti squash and some fishing lures. Eager to escape with a few dollars in our pocket, we cast off in search if cheaper shores. We decided to anchor at Turnbull Harbor and it turned into one of my favorite stops on the trip so far. We unleashed the dinghy, Wildcat, loaded with our crab traps. We deliberated over the best places to put them. We were becoming more discerning crabbers and trying to learn from our former attempts. Next, we took the Wildcat up Roaring Hole Rapids into Nepa Lagoon. Apparently these rapids can be quite nasty but we happened to time them well and had no trouble. We explored the lagoon, a beautiful, quite place with tall snow capped mountains in the background. We did catch a crab! It was a smallish female and was returned to her home, but it was exciting to find her in our trap. The next day we took the dinghy ashore and hiked to Huaskin Lake. It was a short and steep hike up. We found a board, meant for a biking paddle boat, and floated around the lake. It was so pretty, dark and cool we couldn't resist jumping in! We had a picnic lunch afterwards, drying in the sun.
