Nakwato Rapids

We timed our leaving with the tides and had a short trip over to Nakwakto Rapids. Coming up the narrow channel we saw lots of birds and two different pods of porpoises hunting in the shallows. We found a partially sheltered little cove to anchor in and had lunch. We put the motor on the dinghy and raced around the nearby rapids while they swirled and rushed. We motored around Tremble Island and read the signs that decorated the trees with nemes of other boats that had gone before. We shut the engine off and let the rapids take us down, back towards our boat, spinning us in little circles as we went. Later that evening Alden caught his first lingcod and it was just big enough to eat. We fried him up with some pesto pasta, yummy. I think the Captain has hooked himself on a new sport!
